Cara's music often contains positive thoughts about mental wellness and the importance of loving oneself. She has been struggling with anxiety and insomnia, both of which has influenced her music. Reuters reported that she called her album "half chaotic, but half done". She describes her growth by therapy and is adamant about encouraging anyone else to seek out help when they need it. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th of July 1996. Alessia Cara's parents bought her their first guitar when she was just 10 years old. It was the beginning of her journey musically. At the age of 13, she started covering songs she loved on YouTube to prove to her fans that she was talented and was able to go after a career as musician.
